Administered by ordinary citizens
CRAEM Suburb groups are administered by ordinary citizens and are NON-POLITICAL, i.e. they are not affiliated to any political party. The group chats are a way to connect residents and business communities to each other and help each other by sharing suburb-specific information. Suburb residents and workers can share their wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience, as a way to promote growth and rejuvenation in their area.
Examples of crowd-sourced information shared
Questions and informal reports on basic services affecting your suburb: (electricity, water, refuse, roads, infrastructure). Someone in this group can share the information with their municipal councillor, or the municipal councillor is welcome to join the group themselves, but not as an administrator.
The information appearing within these groups is crowd-sourced. Crowdsourcing involves obtaining information, or opinions from a large group of people who submit their data via the internet, social media and smartphone apps. CRAEM is not resourced to verify it As far as possible, all administrators of these groups ensure that NO jokes, religious comments (regardless of intention), hate speech, racism, politics, adult material or anything that may be considered controversial, offensive or hurtful to anyone is allowed. Personal attacks (verbal or otherwise) against any person, inside the group or out, will NOT be tolerated.
Volunteers needed to administer Suburb Groups
Please consider volunteering to administer one.
As an Administrator, you will need to love community and have good communication skills.
You will manage the members of the group and have the right to add or remove the members from the WhatsApp group.
Good rules create a safe space and set clear boundaries and expectations of what members should and should not do. Encourage members to engage positively and alert you to negative behavior that violates your Community’s rules. Let them know that they can reach out to you and your admin team if they have any questions or concerns.
Further together.
Simanyene Siyaphambili.
